Pistons Gaming Team Set for NBA 2KLeague “The Turn” Tournament

The Pistons Gaming Team (GT) is set to compete in the 2020 NBA 2K League “THE TURN” Tournament powered by AT&T this upcoming week. The club opens play with a best-of-three series against Knicks Gaming on Wednesday, July 22 beginning at 6 p.m.

The second of three in-season tournaments, THE TURN is a four-day single-elimination tournament (Wednesday, July 22 – Saturday, July 25) that consists of a best-of-three series format with the winner of each match advancing to the next round. Seeding for the tournament is determined by each team’s regular season winning percentage.

All NBA 2K League teams will participate in the tournament remotely from their local markets for a total prize pool of $260,000. The winner of THE TURN will earn nearly half of the prize pool, with the remainder being awarded to the second- to eighth-place teams (first place – $117,000; second place – $52,000; third and fourth place – $22,100 each; fifth to eighth place – $11,700 each).

All matches will air live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch channel, in addition to select matches airing live on ESPN’s digital platforms and the NBA 2K League’s YouTube channel and on delay on eGG Network in Southeast Asia. ESPN2 will air select matches live on Wednesday, July 22 at 8 p.m. ET and Saturday, July 25 at 3 p.m. ET.

For the second-straight year for THE TURN, the NBA 2K League has implemented an “Archetype Ban”, which introduces an added layer of team strategy as specific player archetypes will be limited based on the selection of the opposing team. Archetypes are the preset combinations of attributes and skills for each position, and players typically have the option to select from five different archetypes per position prior to matches. Further information on NBA 2K League archetypes is available here.
