In the Battle of New Versus Old Pistons GT Splits Against Pacers Gaming

by Aaron Fox

Pistons GT began week five with a split against Pacers Gaming last night. Detroit’s record moved to 6-4 (3rd in Western Conference) while Pacers Gaming remains first in the West at 12-4.

Detroit got absolutely everything they wanted to begin game one. The team saw their lead increase to 19 by the end of the first quarter behind strong defense (allowed just 8 points) and Radiant’s hot start (13 points, 4 assists, 1 steal in the opening frame).

After heating up in the second quarter Pacers Gaming cut the deficit to single-digits (7) entering halftime. 630 and co. made things interesting, clawing back within one possession late in the fourth quarter. The Radiant and Ramo duo seemed to have an answer each and every time Pacers Gaming threatened their lead, and Detroit narrowly escaped with a 72-69 victory. Game one’s win marked Detroit’s third in a row.

Radiant finished with 31 points, 12 assists, and 1 steal while Ramo posted 16 points, 11 rebounds (5 offensive), 2 steals, and 1 block. Charger (13pts) and Pexile (8pts) recorded 2 steals apiece, and Milo (6rebs-1stl) improved his flawless record as a starter to 3-0.

Pacers Gaming came out on fire early in the second contest. While we held a dominant lead at the end of game one’s first quarter, it was Indianapolis who possessed a 36-19 lead at halftime of game two. Detroit mustered totals of just 9 and 10 points in the opening quarters as the offense struggled to create and make plays in the halfcourt.

The offensive struggles continued and Pistons GT never recovered from their slow start. ROTY frontrunner 630 finished with 38 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals, leading Pacers Gaming to their league-best 12th win of the season.

For Detroit, both Ramo (16pts-13rebs) and Radiant (15pts-11asts) recorded double-doubles. Milo scored a career-high 14 points on efficient shooting from the field (5-for-8), along with 5 rebounds and 1 block.

Pistons GT has a quick turnaround, set to take on Mavs Gaming tonight at 7 and 8 p.m. est. With a pair of wins, Pistons GT can solidify their spot near the top of the Western Conference standings. Catch all of the action on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
