Pistons GT Acquires Johnathon “Demon JT” Fields

Deal Completed with Wizards District Gaming for a 2020 Second-Round Pick

DETROIT, Mich. – The Pistons Gaming Team announced today that the club has acquired Jonathon “Demon JT” Fields from Wizards District Gaming in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft.

Pistons GT sent its upcoming second-round pick (39th overall) in this year’s draft in exchange for the point guard hailing from Chicago, Ill. Fields posted averages of 8.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 16 regular season games for Wizards DG in 2019. He was taken with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the inaugural 2018 NBA 2K League Draft by Wizards DG.

“We were excited for the opportunity to bring in a veteran player like JT,” said general manager Adam Rubin. “JT has been a presence in the esports community for years. His competitive mentality and experience are a great addition to our roster.”

The club’s roster now stands at four as the team retained Devin “DevGoss” Gossett and Joseph “Joseph” Marrero, as well as traded for Ramo “Ramo” Radoncic in a deal with Pacers Gaming on Oct. 18. Pistons GT has a first-round pick (14th overall), which was acquired after trading Robbie “May” May to Magic Gaming also on Oct. 18, along with a third-round selection (47th overall) to complete its six-player roster.

Pistons GT is entering its third season in the NBA 2K League and is one of 23 franchises participating in the league in 2020. Pistons GT made one postseason appearance in 2018 and is headed by 2018 NBA 2K League Coach of the Year Duane Burton and general manager Adam Rubin. The NBA 2K League is the first official esports league operated by a U.S. professional sports league. According to Newzoo, the global esports audience will reach 453.8 million in 2020 and will generate revenues of $1.1 billion. NBA 2K League content has generated more than 306 million video views across all NBA and NBA 2K League social media platforms, while the league and its 23 teams have more than 2.0 million combined followers on those platforms.
