Pistons GT Shapes 2021 NBA 2K League Roster

Club Uses Retainer on Ramo “Ramo” Radoncic and Trenton “Charger x 704” Simmons

DETROIT – The Pistons Gaming Team (Pistons GT) announced today that the club has retained Ramo “Ramo” Radoncic and Trenton “Charger x 704” Simmons for the upcoming 2021 NBA 2K League season.

Radoncic will return for his third season with Pistons GT after he was originally selected by the club with the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA 2K League Draft. Radoncic led Pistons GT in scoring (17.9 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg), passing (5.3 apg) and blocks (1.0 bpg) through 35 regular-season games during the 2020 campaign. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native tallied a career-high 45 points twice and finished with team highs of 21 double-doubles, including 17 consecutive such games from June 18 to July 22, and three triple-doubles throughout the year.

“As we continue to build for the future, it is important to us that we have Ramo around as a foundational building block of the franchise,” said Adam Rubin, General Manager of Pistons GT. “His performance on the court speaks for itself and places him among the best in the world. The leadership he consistently displays will be instrumental in helping us create a championship culture within the Pistons GT organization.”

Simmons rejoins Pistons GT after making his NBA 2K League debut for the club during the 2020 season. Selected 14th overall by Pistons GT a year ago, Simmons finished his rookie season with averages of 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.9 blocks in 35 regular-season games. He scored in double figures in 12 total games and tallied three double-doubles, including a performance with 10 points and a career-high 19 rebounds on Aug. 6 against Gen.G Tigers.

“We are pleased to bring Trenton back next season as his energy and work ethic are second to none and he will be an integral part of the Season 4 roster,” said Rubin. “His rookie campaign showed promise and we are looking forward to his continued growth on and off the court.”

Pistons GT is entering its fourth season in the NBA 2K League and is one of 23 franchises participating in the league in 2021. Pistons GT made one postseason appearance in 2018 and is headed by 2018 NBA 2K League Coach of the Year Duane Burton and General Manager Adam Rubin. The NBA 2K League is the first official esports league operated by a U.S. professional sports league.
