Pistons GT vs. Bucks Gaming Recon Report

by Aaron Fox

Pistons GT is prepared to take on Bucks Gaming in a two-game set tonight. These teams met earlier in the year, with Detroit claiming both victories. Radiant (30ppg-15apg) and Ramo (19ppg-10.5rpg) starred as a duo, as both players averaged double-doubles. The sweep against Bucks Gaming was our first sweep of the season, and the team has registered just one (2-0 vs. Kings Guard Gaming) since then.

Last time out, Pistons GT suffered a pair of losses at the hands of Heat Check Gaming, dropping their record to an even 10-10. Opposing point guard Sav had quite the night, posting impressive averages of 33 points and 13 assists per game, all while making it look easy in the process.

For Pistons GT, Radiant, Ramo, and Cooks combined to score all but 13 points over the course of two games against Miami. Ramo missed just two shots, going 19-for-21 from the field but in the end, it wasn’t enough.

Player of the Game: Ramo (20.5ppg-9.5rpg-2.5apg-1.5spg)

  • Game One: Heat Check Gaming defeats Pistons GT, 85-81
  • Game Two: Heat Check Gaming defeats Pistons GT, 78-63

The losses set us back in terms of the playoff race, but there’s still a path to the postseason for Detroit. In order to make a playoff appearance, Pistons GT essentially needs to run the table. It all starts tonight with Bucks Gaming on the slate. After Bucks Gaming, Cavs Legion GC (8/7), Pacers Gaming (8/12), and Hawks Talon GC (8/14) are scheduled to close out the season.

After making the postseason last year, Bucks Gaming has had a disappointing season four by all measures. Sitting at 4-16, the team’s front office has now parted ways with longtime shooting guard, ARooks, and 2021 first-round pick, Lotty, in separate deals over the last month or so. Now stocked with extra selections in the first two rounds of the 2022 draft, and new players Caliraq and Expose, Bucks Gaming looks to play spoiler down the stretch for aspiring playoff teams.

Key Matchup

Idris vs. Regg

Former Bucks Gaming member, Idris, is expected to make his first starts for Pistons GT since being re-acquired via conditional selection two weeks ago. As starting power forward Idris will see plenty of action defending the pick-and-roll with the primary goal of slowing down 2020 Rookie of the Year, Regg.

Regg, like most NBA 2K League point guards, carries a heavy offensive workload for his squad. Throwing him off his game, forcing a slow start, and exploiting his archetype’s weaknesses on the defensive end will all be keys to success for Pistons GT tonight.

Averaging 25.2 points and 11.4 assists per game, his scoring numbers are down this year, but make no mistake, Regg is still very capable of putting on those signature 2020 ROTY performances. All eyes will be on Bucks Gaming’s point guard as Pistons GT tries to secure a playoff spot.
