Pistons GT vs. Magic Gaming Recon Report

by Aaron Fox

With a flawless 4-0 record to open tournament play, Pistons GT landed the number one overall seed. Scheduled to take on the ‘gritty’ Magic Gaming, Detroit aims to keep momentum in their favor after a successful first night of the season.

Magic Gaming’s defense allowed just 60.5 points per contest during the opening round of the TIPOFF, going 3-1 and claiming the tournament’s wild card spot. Led by the 2019 ROTY Reizey, Orlando always plays their own style of 2K, never allowing the opposition to dictate the pace of the game.

Key Matchup: Pexile vs. Reizey

Detroit lockdown defender Pexile quietly put together quality performances in his first handful of NBA 2K League appearances. Lost behind the highlights and flashy stat lines that other positions may bring, Pexile held his point guard matchup to 30% shooting or worse from beyond the arc in three out of four games last night.

During the TIPOFF’s opening night, Magic Gaming point guard Reizey averaged 25.5 points per contest on an efficient 51.2 percent shooting from deep. Limiting the amount of clean Orlando looks from the perimeter will be key for Detroit’s defense, and it all starts with the rookie, Pexile.

Projected Lineups:

Magic Gaming: (PG) Reizey, (SG) Snubby, (SF) FutureClutch, (PF) DT, (C) May

Pistons GT: (PG) Greenlight, (SG) Killey, (SF) Pexile, (PF) Charger, (C) Ramo

Magic Gaming Group Four: W vs. 76ers GC (59-56), L vs. 76ers GC (70-59), W vs. Cavs Legion GC (67-65), W vs. Cavs Legion GC (73-51)

Pistons GT is slated to tip off with Magic Gaming at 6 p.m. eastern time. The teams will compete in a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the next round of the tournament. Catch all of the action live at 6 p.m. on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube.
