Pistons GT vs. Magic Gaming Review

by Aaron Fox

After opening the TIPOFF with four consecutive wins, Detroit saw their tournament run abruptly end when they ran into Magic Gaming last night.

Game one got out of hand early in the second half, and Magic Gaming claimed a comfortable third quarter lead. Behind Reizey’s 35 points and 6 assists on 62.5% shooting from the floor, Magic Gaming never looked back, eventually winning the contest 71-60.

Pistons GT held a 6-point lead headed into halftime of game two, but Orlando had yet another big third quarter, going on a 13-1 run while quickly taking control. Detroit fought back, even stealing the lead a few times during the final frame, but Magic Gaming ultimately prevailed. Opposing lockdown defender, FutureClutch, did a solid job containing the Pistons offense, additionally finishing with 15 points on 7-for-7 shooting overall.

Revisiting our Reizey versus Pexile key matchup from the pregame ‘Recon Report’, Reizey finished with series averages of 29 points and 7.5 assists per game on 60 percent shooting from the field. Prior to our matchup with Magic Gaming, Pistons GT was surrendering just 20.25 points per game on 47 percent shooting to opposing point guards.

With the series win, Orlando advances to the semifinals of the NBA 2K League’s TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, and is slated to face off with 76ers GC later tonight.
