Pistons GT vs. Pacers Gaming Recon Report

by Aaron Fox

Pistons GT is set to take on Pacers Gaming in a pair of matchups tonight. Sitting atop the Western Conference standings at 11-3, Pacers Gaming represents one of the tougher tests Detroit has seen all season.

After drafting 630 second overall the team has officially found their point guard of the future. In his last appearance against Lakers Gaming the rookie lead guard posted a franchise single-game record 48 points, along with 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 9 made three-pointers. Not only the favorite to win this year’s ROTY award, 630 is primed to take home MVP if he continues to perform at a high-level.

Last time out, Pistons GT completed their first sweep of the season, taking down Kings Guard Gaming and improving to 5-3 (3rd in Western Conference). The team’s new look lineup included Radiant making his first starts at point guard, Charger taking on the shooting guard role, and Milo making his NBA 2K League debut. After consecutive wins, the same starting five will put their undefeated record on the line tonight versus Pacers Gaming.

Key Matchup

Pexile vs. 630

Selected 46 picks apart in the 2021 NBA 2K League draft, two rookies battle it out in attempts to claim important Western Conference victories.

Pexile, who helped limit former MVP MamaImDatMan to subpar performances last week (47% overall, 39% on 3PTA’s), will have the tough task of defending Pacers Gaming’s impressive rookie point guard. Pexile recorded 2 steals and 1 block in Detroit’s last win and ranks top-five (4th) in three-point percentage league-wide (73.7%).

For 630, he adjusted to NBA 2K League play rapidly, becoming one of the best players in the entire league nearly overnight. Pacers Gaming’s point guard provides a true measuring tool for Detroit’s defensive improvements. Pistons GT allowed point totals of 65 and 61 (regular-season low) to Kings Guard Gaming just a week ago. If the team manages to produce similar results against Indianapolis they’ll likely find success, and it all begins on the defensive end with Pexile.
