Pistons GT vs. T-Wolves Gaming Recon Report

by Aaron Fox

Pistons GT (1-1) continues their regular season tonight with a couple of matchups against TIPOFF champions T-Wolves Gaming (4-0). Minnesota is the hottest team in the NBA 2K League right now, claiming the first tournament of the year and beginning the season a flawless 4-0.

T-Wolves Gaming has three players averaging at least 18 points and 5 assists per game in BearDaBeast, ShiftyKaii, and Slaughter. The trio combine to account for 75% (63.8 per game) of Minnesota’s points, and there may not be a better-performing “Big 3” around the league right now.

For Detroit, the team’s lineup has looked different each week so far and tonight will be no different. Acquired on draft night in exchange for a pair of first-round selections, Radiant is expected to make his long awaited Pistons GT debut. Projected lineups below:

Key Matchup

Radiant vs. ShiftyKaii

Radiant is expected to play shooting guard in his first start with Pistons GT, going head-to-head with one of the league’s best in ShiftyKaii.

Detroit received quality production from their shooting guard position between Killey (6 games) and Idris (2 games) during Radiant’s absence, with the two combining to post averages of 15.6ppg-3.6apg-0.75spg-48.3%-46.6%. Radiant, who recorded a career-high 30.7 points along with 7.1 assists per game for 76ers GC a year ago, will be an upgrade regardless.

For T-Wolves Gaming, ShiftyKaii has proved to be worth the hefty price tag early on, averaging 20.8 points. 5.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest in his first four starts. He faces a Pistons GT defense that allowed a league-high 112 points versus NetsGC in their last appearance. These matchups could easily come down to which team gets more production from their newly-acquired talented two-guards.
