Week 8 Recap: Pistons GT vs 76ers GC

76ers GC (7-4) defeated Pistons GT (1-9) by a score of 95-54 Thursday night in Week 8 of 2K regular-season play.

The Sixers struck first in this one, drilling a deep three on their first possession, but the Pistons would take an early 6-3 lead thanks to three quick buckets. Despite a horrific regular-season record, the Pistons were decent in the first period, as they entered the second stanza down by just five despite a hot start.

76ers GC started to pull ahead in the second period, and they built a 12-point lead with three minutes to go until the break with the help of a deep three from ZDS. It also didn’t hurt that the Sixers failed to commit a turnover in the first half, while the Pistons turned the ball over five times. The Sixers also converted on five more treys, which certainly didn’t hurt. Heading into the break, 76ers GC held a commanding 40-23 lead following a second period in which they outscored their opponent 20-8.

ZDS erupted for 19 first-half points, while BreadwinnerLA put up six points and registered two rebounds along with two assists and a steal. The Pistons were led by May with 12 points and six boards at the break.

Things only got worse for the Pistons in the third quarter, as they were outscored 24-13 — this extended the Sixers’ lead to 28 points heading into the final six minutes of the matchup. 76ers GC simply demoralized Pistons GT until the very end, ultimately coming away with a convincing victory. Considering the lack of success the Pistons have found this season, the outcome wasn’t all that surprising, though it’s always unexpected when a contest gets this out of hand.

ZDS put together a monster performance, leading his squad with 42 points and four dimes, setting the 2019 record for most points in a game. Radiant was close behind him with 34 points and 15 assists on the night. The Pistons had two starters finish in double figures, as May poured in 20 points and secured nine rebounds while Joseph put up 15 points in an embarrassing loss.
